VA Welcome Home Project Joins Forces with Arizona National Guard's Operation Warrior Outreach
PHOENIX - Arizona National Guard warriors who have served in Iraq and Afghanistan will get a first-of-its-kind VA Welcome Home that includes lunch, chances to win prizes like airline and movie tickets, and valuable VA information to help them utilize the VA benefits they have earned through their service to our country.
Sunday, May 4, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Arizona National Guard Armory
52nd Street Armory, Drill Floor
1335 N. 52nd Street, Phoenix
The event will salute soldiers and provide valuable VA information on how to access VA services, including the newly expanded benefit of up to five years of free health care, as well as other VA benefits such as vocational rehabilitation, home loans, GI bill loans, and counseling at local Vet Centers.
This event is being offered through a joint partnership between VA and the Guard, and is the first of its kind in our state. Major General David P. Rataczak, Adjutant General of the Arizona National Guard, along with other officers, will speak at the event, which will also feature a multimedia presentation with Guard support information.
As part of the annual Phoenix VA Health Care System's Welcome Home Outreach VA will provide lunch, with a donation of hamburgers from Carl's Jr. VA is also bringing raffle prize drawings including round-trip airfare for two on Mesa Airlines, Harkins Movie Tickets, Danny's Car Washes and other great prizes for those in attendance.
