There are several activities this week to help celebrate the National Salute to Hospitalized Veterans. This is part of an annual, national campaign to help honor and recognized our nation's veterans who are in the hospital this week.
In addition to the National Salute VA is also celebrating Black History Month. The activities listed below might make for good vignettes in your shows or newspapers.

Wednesday, February 13 Noon, VA Ambulatory Care Clinic: As part of Black History Month, the Blacks in Government (BIG) will have America's Toughest Sheriff, Joe Arpaio, speak to VA employees at noon in the VA Ambulatory Care Clinic Basement Conference Rooms.
Thursday, February 14 10 a.m. to noon throughout the hospital: VA will be conducting tours and visitations throughout the Medical Center. We will have a variety of VIPs including Marty Manning from KESZ Radio; Senator Pamela Gorman, Ms. Arizona United States, Gina DeSimone (see bio on at www.phoenix.va.gov ), members from Luke Air Force Base, the US Airways Do Crew and others who will visit with our veterans.
Noon, VA Ambulatory Care Clinic: Winners of the second annual Creative Arts Festival, "Put Your Heart Into Art" will be announced. The festival takes place from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. and will have many unique pieces of art on display made by veterans. Each veteran who wins in this competition will be advanced to the regional competition, in the hopes of making it to the National Creative Arts Festival hosted by VA each year. (This event is sponsored in part by the American Legion Auxiliary.)
