The Podiatric Residency Program at the Carl T. Hayden VA Medical Center produces a skilled, caring, well-rounded podiatric physician, while providing excellent, ethical, culturally-sensitive patient care, and contributing to the body of scientific knowledge through original research.
Separate residency manuals have been created for the Primary Podiatry Medicine Residency (PPMR), and for the Podiatric Surgical Residency (PSR-24). However, the residency programs are linked.
The residents chosen for the PPMR will continue on into the PSR-24. It is anticipated that the two linked programs will be converted to the new format of the Podiatric Medicine & Surgery comprehensive 36-month training program during the 2006-2007 academic year. This will require only the submission of the necessary paperwork in as much as the program already functions as a comprehensive three-year training program.
